Vans Van Doren Series Lineup

Here are several reissued prints and several patterns that render more memories and new flavors of designs for the fall season. This comes in a limited collection that pays tribute to the OGs which create the brand. It is in reference to the last name of the brothers Paul and James. Vans Half Cab 20th Anniversary

This is in celebration for Vans’ 20^th anniversary. They have come up with one of their most popular shoe models which is the Half Cab. It has forest green for its suede seen on entirely its uppers and some shades of white and some black for contrast. These are seen on the midsole and inner lining.

Hello Kitty x Vans Summer 2012

This amazing collaboration was released during the early part of last year. It is set to be back for its demand this summer season. It is also set to be released by June 1 which features loud Hello Kitty designs for its uppers. It all sits on white midsoles.

Vans Vault Sk8 Hi LX Notchback

These pairs are just perfect once again for the coming months of spring. It is set in three looks for its classic model of the Sk8-Hi LX. It comes with a cleaner look that has the classic build and a notch on the heel right along the collar area. It has three colors that are on their way to the retailers stores. It has suede for its uppers and white for its details. It also has a vulcanized sole with a  yellow based color. It also has hints of accents in black.

Vans Authentic Watermelon Pack Reissue

This pair was originally released way back in 2009 meant for the women. The company is getting ready for its re-release with the Authentic shoe model on the lead. It takes center stage and comes with a red based watermelon theme. It has the watermelon print for its uppers and green is seen for the vulcanized sole. It is truly refreshing.

Vans Sk8-Hi Suede in Honey Mustard, Black

Here is another classically styles shoes but this time under the Vans brand. Its clean look is perfect for the summer and works with premium canvas, suede and a sole that is vulcanized. It has a yellow shade with some honey mustard built on its uppers. Black is seen on the canvas area. White is seen on the laces and the brand.

Who would not know Vans? Especially if you consider yourself as a very cool person, moreover a sneaker fan, then you would definitely know a lot about the Vans brand. For some time now, we, at bayareakicks.com, have discussed about Vans and its history countless times. This is true each time we would feature a new release or discuss an old shoe that is worth mentioning from them. Vans shoes were started by Paul Van Doren with just having a very simple idea: this is to make shoes and sell them straight to the market without having to go through a middle man.

Upon the opening of the company, Vans offered their shoe products in three styles which were priced from around $2.49 to $4.99. But during their opening, it was only display models that they came up with. All their racks were filled with empty boxes and there were 12 customers who came in and selected colors and styles that they wanted. The other customers were asked to just come back in the afternoon as partners Doren and Lee rushed back to the factory to make more shoes. As the years came, they opened a brand new retail store every week.

As they welcomed more feedback, they were led to more and more innovations and improvements which led them to the patented Van’s waffle shoe. When the skateboarding craze began during the early part of the 70s, this became another reason for the further boosting of the company’s sales. The skateboarding trend outgrew the surfing culture in California and gave a chance for Van Doren to be more flexible with their designs. It cannot be helped that more and more customers requested for more colors and patterns, and so they came up with the Vans Era.

BAK featured already a lot of Vans Era designs as time passed by but did you know that it simply started to be a red and blue shoe? That’s how simple it was then! It was actually designed by the professional skateboarders and the Vans brand became an instant hit to serve as the official shoe made for professional skateboarders. Since then up until our modern days of today, Vans has always been associated with the sport. A lot more color combinations and patterns were made in the seventies and a new style which was the slip on soon was introduced. This became the rage in southern California.

Vans also started garnering bigger promotions like being included in the movies. When Sean Penn played the role of a Californian surfer dude, he was shown wearing a pair of Vans slip ons that were checkered. This made a big star out of Penn and this made Vans a nationwide sensation. The company’s shoes were then brought to the mainstream of the department stores and the independent retailers alike. With sales going really high, they expanded their production and warehouses to accommodate bigger amounts. This also included raising their number of employees.

This slip on craze of Vans also started a wide gamut of licensing agreements with notebooks and sunglasses. They were also pushed deeper into the official sneaker world which made them develop more Vans shoes ideal for a variety of sports like baseball, football, basketball, umpiring, soccer, skydiving, wrestling and boxing. Some other companies by then started moving their production to Asia to cut some costs, but Vans stayed to their domestic production site. The demand just went on and on for Vans and this goes the same for their international sales, most especially Europe and Mexico.

Vans even had their credibility to be built stronger by opening a skateboarding park in Orange California in 1998 which measured about 46,000 square foot. The venture was a success that led to more parks to be built nationwide. As 2001 ended, Vans was able to own a total of 4 skateboarding parks in California along with other parks n New Jersey, Virginia, Colorado and Texas. They were also making a lot of publicity through the sponsored partnership with Triple Crown for various sport events like skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and motocross.

The secret of Vans lie not just in it very diversified product line but also due to many other factors like their event sponsorships and their very famous skateboarding facilities. Vans were always been in the thick of things regardless of how tough things can be for our economy and other financial struggles. Most of their well noted shoe models and designs would include the Era, Atwood, Old Skool, Classic, Prison Issue series, Zapato del Barco, Half Cab, Rata Vulc, Classic Slip-On, Authentic, Sk8-Mid, Widow, and many more. Most of these we have featured for a time or two in our special category meant for Vans alone.
The most recent event that Vans would sponsor would be the Vans Warped Tour 2010 which is the 16th installment for the festival held every year. Vans shoes would always be a brand that we would love having in our site and something that you would love having in your sneaker closet.
