This is the latest pair amongst the celebrated 25^th Anniversary Workout shoe editions for Reebok. This is the California based Beatnic that got its inspiration from their Vector classic. It uses the noteworthy color of Reebok Insta Pump Fury and it has mesh and leather made for its uppers. It has a scheme set in black, yellow and red.

Reebok Freestyle Hi in Sushi International Edition

Reebok Workout 25th Anniversary x Solebox

When February 15 arrives, the various collaborations for the Reebok Workout Plus will soon be out. This is to celebrate the 25^th birthday of the brand that has linked up with a total of 15 retailers around the world. Each gives their own spin on the model  especially before the Pump era even came about. Apparently, we are to see still the entire collection in the coming days. But for now, choose to see this burnt brown that is scaly for its uppers.

Green, White and Yellow for Reebok Pump Omni Lite

This iconic model just celebrated its 20^th anniversary last year as it steps into a new generation with vibrant colors surfacing now all over Asia. It is made out of green in lime shade which is called as Hero to them and yellow works as the overlay wrapping. It has support tabs and some other parts which are set in yellow too. White is only seen at the midsole and topped off with an outsole that is in yellow and green.

Reebok

Here in Bay Area Kicks, we have always seen Reebok as something that takes its own rightful place in the sneaker world. It continues to work through the stiff competition in the sneaker industry by coming up with a variety of collaborations, new programs and campaigns. And the entire history of Reebok all started with Paul Fireman who is the entrepreneur who started this company that later became a top shoe business in the world of sneakers. Through time, Reebok gained more popularity with celebrity and athlete endorsements like that of Allen Iverson who is known to be the prince of the National Basketball Association.

Reebok has had its bad times as well but we are always impressed with how it always manages to come back with full strength. Their comeback was a huge hit not just with signing Iverson but when they signed a ten year contract with NBA to become the official outfitter and marketer of the game uniforms and their warm up gears. Reebok has always been hopeful in competing with one of the biggest brands in the sneaker universe which is Nike. With all their successful athlete and celebrity endorsements, Reebok has really been able to keep up with the trying times.

The fall and rise of this brand would remain monumental since it can serve as a classic tale and example for the modern world of the entrepreneur. It all started when Paul joined a trade show in Chicago and he saw and got impressed with a leather sneaker that is hand sewn which was called already then as Reebok. Its name was taken from a kind of African gazelle and it was marketed by the J.W. Foster & Sons company. He bought the distribution rights of the shoes and sooner or later, he dropped everything and spent his time developing the bright colored leather sneakers.

In the case of Reebok’s story, we believed that timing was perfect. It was the start of the boom of the women’s aerobics movement and Reebok became the standard brand of the equipment. They also became the hit fashion during the eighties that even Rolling Stone’s Mick Jagger personally wrote to Reebok to request a sneaker pair that was already sold out in London. When they were already thinking about going global, the board of Reebok feared that they might not make it as big and as successful as the others.

What Reebok did to keep up with the changing times is to start expanding their customer base. They ventured out from the recreational and fitness world and moving up to produce performance oriented sneakers perfect for various sports of basketball, soccer, baseball and many more. These were the fields that other giant sneaker brands were competing stiffly like Nike, New Balance and Adidas. The competition may be tough, but Reebok was one of the few shoe companies who never forgot about the rest of their priority markets like the women and the kids.

Before the new millennium came, Paul and his wife never stopped planning about how to always come up with something new with Reebok. Hence, they started going back to their roots which is to come up with sharp and provocative designs all the time. He started requiring more innovation from his team of shoe engineers and they were led to the start of the Reebok DMX technology. This has a sole that has many air channels that promotes cushioned comfort. There is also the Traxtar which is a shoe line for kids that has computer chips that are built in and a motion sensor that measure the running speed and the jumping height of the wearer.

All this time though, we are amazed with how Reebok perceives that this advance technology is not enough to keep up with its competitors like Nike. What they needed is to maintain a great marketing attitude to go with these innovative technologies. The Cool Factor was how Paul called their strategy especially with Iverson coming in the scene. It proved well as Iverson appeared to be one of the coolest looking athletes of his time and generation. Reebok’s goal was to always come up with something futuristic and not so boring about their wide variety of products. Their Freestyle aerobic shoes intended for women became very popular due to its lightweight appeal and its iconic Velcro ankle straps. These became the staple shoes for fitness and fashion sneakers in the 1980s. When 1989 came, Reebok gave way for another classic piece which was called the Pump. It is a basketball shoe that has adjustable air cushioning to promote customized fit and support. This shoe model really helped in the booming of the brand to be a domineering brand in the hard court.

By 2006, Adidas bought Reebok but was able to manage to maintain all the company’s contracts, endorsements and their being a major supplier of uniforms for NBA, NFL and WNBA. Reebok has always wanted to be able to maintain its planted roots way back from the 19th century and down to the modern 21st century. He was able to make Reebok turn out to be the world’s largest footwear brand in the eighties and up to now, Paul continues to be one of the leading designers and innovators of the next generation of Reebok sneakers.
