Another set of sneakers celebrating a Chinese festival are available. This time, the pack is commemorating the Mid-Autumn Festival. This festival, also known as the Moon festival, dates back over 3,000 years and celebrates abundance, family and togetherness. The Mid-Autumn Festival is considered one of the most important in the Chinese culture – it’s right up there with Chinese New Year. Traditions include eating moon cakes under the moon with family and friends, lighting lanterns, dragon dances and more. The festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month on the Chinese calendar – which is usually around mid September and the Autumn Equinox.
This three-pack of sneakers from Nike marks this year’s September 14th event. Included in the pack are the Terminator, Air Max 1 and Blazer. Each shoe features Chinese colors (gold and red) and other symbols of Chinese folklore. Via Hypebeast.
