PUMA x Yo! MTV Raps 2008

PUMA x Yo! MTV Raps 2008 - Suede #1

20 years ago MTV made hip-hop history by launching a new format music show called Yo! MTV Raps. In April 2008, MTV will bring the program back to television with a new series that will take a reflective look at how hip-hop started and will follow its evolution through music history. To help celebrate the reintroduction of the Yo! series PUMA launched a new capsule collection of co-branded footwear to celebrate the return of the new Yo! MTV Raps series.

The limited edition collection will consist of the most iconic heritage styles from PUMA’s past, including:

The Suede: Two versions of the Suede will be re-introduced featuring the original silhouette sported by the hip-hop kids back in the day. The black and perforated patent version features a suede-patterned heel, Yo! branded tongue label and Yo! laces. The grey Suede counterpart features embossed Yo! speech bubbles on the quarters, same Yo! laces, tongue label and Yo! logo on the FOT.

First Round: This fun and fashionable style is a high top version of the Suede silhouette. The sneaker features eye-catching bright pink patterns and bright yellow laces as well as a second set of laces matching the pattern of the shoe to mix things up.

RS 100: The classic 80’s runner comes in grey, black and pink, featuring the legendary Yo! logo pattern all over as well as patent leather on the heel cap and PUMA formstrip.

Match: This laidback sneaker comes in two executions. One is a black and gold version topped off by red Yo! pattern laces and the other is a simple all white version with purple Yo! pattern laces and gold detailing on the Yo! tongue label, FOT and branding.

Only limited pairs of these shoes will be available at selected sneaker boutiques and select PUMA Concept Stores beginning April 19th. A second follow-up drop is launching a month later in May featuring the same styles but different color and material combinations.

In June 1986, the Boston Celtics franchise was elated to select Maryland basketball star Len Bias with the second overall pick of the NBA Draft. Less than 48 hours later, the 22-year-old was pronounced dead is dorm suite after suffering cardiac arrest due to cocaine overdose.

The NBA draft is unpredictable. The selections can make the difference between a lottery team and a dynasty. After the young player’s death, the Celtics franchise wallowed in two decades of mediocrity before rising to the top of the NBA in the 2008 season. Puma Clyde Limited Edition Poison Pack

These Poiston Dark Frog shoes are around $140 USD at Overkill.
