Bape x Adidas Superstar 80s “B-Side”

On August 13th, 2011 we will be able to pickup this collab between Bape and Adidas for those of you who are interested. What we have here is an Adidas Superstar 80s “B-Side” that is obviously combined with the Babe logo. For many, we assumed that these 2 companies would be competitors and never would consider teaming up… but I guess we were wrong.

This sneaker is surrounded with a navy leather trim, and the rest of the upper is white suede. On both the heel and the tongue you will see the Bathing Ape Logo. I am not sure if I personally want to mix my Bapes and my Adidas, but I will say that this is a pretty decent sneaker. What do you guys think? I don’t have a price yet, but in the meantime… Enjoy!

Crape by Bape

Bape has been notably successful in releasing sneakers that are also attention grabbers. There may be a few fans for this sneaker brand, but still it cannot be helped to be praised by numerous sneaker experts like us. This time, Bape is releasing a good number of sneaker lineups for the summer of 2010.

The Ape Sta Collection, The Slip-Off and the collaboration with Brotherhood Neighborhood are what we all should watch out for. Now here is the close look at the Crape, made especially for the lineup of Summer 2010. The Crape, to start off, is in three subtle and design oriented colors for the season.

Every pair is made out of 100% all natural and textured suede that is mixed with some old school and traditional sole in off-white. The Crape in red and blue has some yellow tints right on the sole. There are also other colors like the brown-red and blue-neon yellow.

Bathing Ape Shoes

Bathing Apes main goal was not to be an athletic shoes for the buyers, but instead, their shoes’ are mostly for display purposes and exclusivity is on top of the line. Although, Bapes have gotten inspiration from the Nike Air Force Ones, it is obvious that they are extremely different. Besides from being more expensive than the Nike Air Force Ones, due to the expensive materials used, it is also much more limited than AF1s. These Bapestas were usually made in the runs of only 200 pairs or less. Pretty cool huh? So grab one now and that $200 would be well worth it.

A Bathing Ape just released 4 new colorways of the Roadsta Runner in shiny metallic design. Made of patent leather and metallic color accents.

Your choices of color mixes are red/navy/white with metallic silver accents, brown/white/black with metallic gold accents, red/black/white with metallic gold accents, and pink/white/navy with metallic silver accents.

Retailed at ¥16,590 (approx $183). Available at select Bape retailers worldwide.

Bathing Ape Ghostbusters

Nobody can ever forget the famous cartoon series Ghostbusters! The ghost hunting men recently collaborate with Bathing Apes to come up with these cool sneakers and a lot more stuffs like shirts and mugs. The shoe features the Ghostbusters logo on the heel of the sneaker as well as on the upper back ankle support with orange and white color combinations. Let’s bring back the kid in you and start hunting for ghosts!

Bapes Roadsta May 2009 Releases

Just a few days back here at BayAreKicks.com we have featured the Bathing Apes Roadsta 16th. And for that we also wanted to show you a few more colorways of the Bape Roadsta. Although it is kinda late since these were all released last May 2009, I figured the colors of these models, like purple, green, yellow, red, blue, black and white are all so perfect for the summer season. All of which are made of patent leather uppers. I must say that these are really signature style sneakers. Enjoy!

BAPE is one of these worth mentioning sneaker brands that Bay Area Kicks is always proud of featuring.

BAPE or also known as A Bathing Ape is a famous Japanese clothes company which was started by Nigo in 1993. It specializes in a wide variety of street and lifestyle wear made available in a wide variety of sizes fit for men, women and even kids. Bay Area Kicks never fails to feature all the latest happening and updates that we get from all their 19 stores in Japan which involve the Bape Stores, Bape Kids Stores, Bape Pirate Stores, Bapexclusive Kyoto and Bapexclusive Aoyama.

Most of the time, BAK features the variety of events and art shows being held in the Bape Gallery, which is located at the Kyoto branch. BAPE also has a series of other shops in places all over the world like Singapore, Seoul, Shanghai, Paris, Taipei, New York, London, and Hong Kong. Interestingly, they even operated before a hair salon called the Bape Cuts, a Bape Café, and the popular Foot Soldier which is still active up to this day. For the female product line of the company, Nigo started the APEE and the BAPY, which the latter, was only revived this 2010.

The entire team and staff of Bay Area Kicks is always vigor whenever we write a feature post about Bathing Ape sneakers and clothing items. This is because they are very popular for their very flashy designs and their artwork that is highly original. They regularly collaborate with other giant brands in the market and with famous people from all parts of media. BAK has featured BAPE Collaborations like with Nintendo, Hello Kitty and the Sanrio family, Marvel Comics, and Spongebob Squarepants. More famous brands which they have collaborated with were Pepsi, MAC, Carhartt, and Casio. For the artist category collaboration, there are UNKLE, Kanye West, Gary Panter, KAWS, and Kid Cudi. The BAK team even found out along the way of our research that Kid Cudi used to work at the BAPES company before he left and decided to pursue music instead. Up until present day, Kid Cudi remains to be an essential promoter of BAPE and he is always seen wearing the items from the brand.

Bay Area Kicks find all shoes from BAPE as mysterious, easy to spot and yet quite hard to buy for they are not manufactured in huge amounts; hence they remain to be always in demand. Here are some important trivia the entire BAK team discovered along the way about BAPE shoes:

• The name of the company was taken from a Japanese expression for those who are trend followers which they connote as ‘bathing in lukewarm water.’

• BAPE is pronounced as bayp, much like how you pronounce tape.

• Bapesta is the official name of their athletic shoes.

• Fapes is the term for fake BAPE shoes.

• BAPE has one retail location called Busy Work Shop.

Bay Area Kicks believes in the power of BAPE and its influence almost anywhere you go these days. If you claim that you are strange to the brand, then think again. At one point or another, you have surely seen the clothes made by its founder, Nigo, even if you are not aware of it. Try to look close at the back of the jacket of your fave hip hop star or maybe notice the neon colored sneakers on the latest dance sensation. There is a high chance that the heavy browed gorilla graphics that you will see is the official logo of BAPE. It just started as a streetwear icon but it successfully turned out to become a Japanese Gen-Y obsession. Bay Area Kicks considers it as an Asian fashion fetish and also an amazing global phenomenon.

Bay Area Kicks also shares that BAPE clothes and footwear were instrumental in helping launch the Harajuku district in Tokyo to become the global center of urban fashion style and today is considered a collector’s item of various fashionistas and sneaker aficionados in the global sense of the word. The entire company may have been established in 1993 but their very first sneaker was only released in 2002. Through time, the Bay Area Kicks team notices that their sneakers look close to the Nike Air Force 1 but the only difference is that BAPE comes in a wider variety of colors and materials used. In fact, we have featured Bathing Ape sneaker models that looked similar like the Adidas Shell Toe, the Air Max and Nike Dunks. However, what is unique about BAPE is that they always give a touch of their own personality to their shoes.

The BAK team also featured the recent addition to their sneaker line which was called the Bathing Ape Roadstas. It was intended to serve as a fashion sneaker which was first released in the 2000s. Many sneaker critics say that they are copies of Nike’s Air Max series but the real deal is that they actually utilized the body of the Nike Air Max Bruin. The only difference of course is the shooting star on the side which is known as the Sta.

The very initial batch of Bape Roadsta was pretty much different from the usual look of the Bape shoes. This is because they did not use patent leather which is the aspect that makes it flashy and a sure attention grabber. The most interesting feature about them would be the air bubble that it has on its sole. The air bubble would match the camo inside which depends on the color that you have that would surely catch anyone’s attention. Original colors were released in non-patent leather and we at Bay Area Kicks expect to witness this patent really soon on these Bathing Ape Roadsta hot shoes.

Another popular sneaker line would be the Bathing Ape Crepes in their shoe family. It uses the popular design of the Puma Clyde body and again the difference this makes is the Sta which is seen on the sides of the sneakers that all BAPE fans adore. These Crepes were first introduced just this 2005 and did not achieve much of a success unlike the rest of the hype of the other BAPEs. Since these were released in limited numbers, they were eventually sold out but not as fast as the ones in camo colors. They were made available in suede material and they are not in the usual wild colors that BAPE was known for.

Bay Area Kicks works tirelessly in featuring some of the best of what BAPE always has to offer through the years when it comes to their sneaker lines. Here are some of the few highlights that are really worth mentioning and be shared to numerous fans of this brand and our site as well. Bay Area Kicks believes in the importance of being knowledgeable on seeing the difference between a fake and a genuine BAPE sneaker. This is very helpful since a lot of fapes are really coming round the bend these days and these are grabbed by most just because they are affordable but they are not really always of as high quality all the time.

• The BAPE Roadsta Black and White are known to be one of the simplest roadsta models that were released by the brand. These are also very versatile when it comes to function and can match any kind of fashion attire.

• The BAPE Black Label Roadsta is part of the Black Label Collection which means this is composed of shoes and apparel that are all in black. It had its slick release in 2008 and it was only made available at the Bapeclusive store in Aoyama, Japan.

• The BAPE Skullsta is their clean pair with their usual star logo in five varying colors of white, black, blue, silver and gold.

• The Spongebob Bapesta was made out of the collaboration made between BAPE Croc skin and Pharrell Williams. Its real crocodile skin theme took the place of the usual patent leather uppers. The release was very limited.

• The Roadsta 16 in the yellow camo colorway is really very colorful since it was set in blue vamp, the yellow logo, a yellow toe, a heel cap, red collar, and a pink tongue.

• The BAPESTA 88 Low comes with a more sporty design with a white polyester base and has amazing overlays with the words of bathing ape right on the white midsole.

• Their Bapes Roadsta May 2009 releases were perfect for the sunny days of the summer season!

• Who would forget the great collaboration of Bathing Apes with the classic Ghostbusters? It was perfect to bring out the kid in every sneaker fan.

• One of their most futuristic designs would be the Bathing Ape Roadsta Metallic which bear metallic color accents making the wearer look as if he is from outer space.
